Louise Rabbone

The founder, Principal Psychologist and Managing Director of The People Catalyst, Louise Rabbone has over 25 year’s experience working with organisations to implement employee well-being programmes and solve complex organisational issues around psychological risk management, change, conflict, mediation, resilience mental fitness and team realignment. 

Louise provides tailored consulting to organisations assisting the management of psychological workplace risks to minimise the potential negative impacts on employee mental health and wellbeing and supports organisations to improve their workplace mental health culture.

Louise is a well respected leader and practitioner in the mental health and well-being fields as an engaging speaker and motivator. Louise has facilitated over 400 beyondblue mental health training programmes and is also an accredited Mental Health First Aid trainer.

In February 2018, The People Catalyst and Louise was engaged by the Australian Workers Compensation Summit in Sydney to deliver a workshop on “Improving Psychological Wellbeing and Creating Mentally Healthy Workplaces – A Practitioners Perspective."

Louise is also in demand as a workplace mediator, in which she holds a national accreditation and has facilitated the realignment of numerous complex team conflicts across varied teams and workplaces.

Over the past 10 years, Louise has built an extensive portfolio and reputation on men’s mental health issues particularly in the FIFO, rural, safety sensitive industries including construction, mining and oil and gas sectors. A key area of focus in this space has been in the areas of leadership mental health cultural change programmes, psychological risk assessment, fitness for work, drug and alcohol management, fatigue management and the general promotion of resilience, mental fitness and well-being.

With a career spanning nearly three decades, today Louise consults across all industries and sectors working with leading national and international clients in Australia, Asia and New Zealand. 

Louise is a registered psychologist, a member of the Australian Psychological Society and The Resolution Institute. Louise holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Psychology and a Master of Psychology.

Neuro-Expressive Psychotherapist

Shirley Deane

Shirley Deane currently heads up the USA arm of The People Catalyst and is an internationally respected Neuro-Expressive Psychotherapist and author (recent publication "Brain Tangles: Unravelling the Mysteries of Human Communication and Behavior") with numerous professional qualifications in the areas of Psychology and Biomedical Communications.

Shirley has over 45 years of experience working in a variety of roles across the United States and Australia in the fields of instructional design, programme development, community mental health, addictions, mediation, trauma management and crisis intervention.

During her extensive career in psychotherapy, Shirley has worked in collaboration with a number of mental health associates and psychiatrists in private practice.  Of particular note was her being fortunate to have associations with the USA founders of transactional analysis, a therapeutic practise that she continues to utilise today.

Shirley has held positions in both staff and management positions in five mental health centres across the USA. Shirley has significant expertise in trauma management, including being engaged to serve on the crisis assistance team during the aftermath of the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995. 

As currently one of the long standing and respected practitioners in the field, Shirley has been using eidetic psychology and expressive therapy concepts since 1976 to support clients with mental health trauma, stress and addiction issues. She was especially encouraged to continue explorations in these arenas following her personal experience with renown USA psychiatrist Dr Karl Menninger, of the Menninger Foundation and Psychiatric Training Hospital.

With her vast array of experience Shirley continues to give back to the field of mental health by acting as a mentor and coach and facilitating workshops for the development of mental health professionals.

Three years ago she reconnected professionally with Louise Rabbone, Managing Director of The People Catalyst and has jointly worked on a number of complex organisational health re-alignment projects and together with Louise has co-developed the "Creating Brain Balance and Mental Fitness" programme and manual©

Shirley and Louise continue to collaborate and consult on a number of joint projects both in Australia and USA and continue their longstanding association that was founded on common values and a vision of bringing to life leading edge mental health practices needed to support the general community in the 21st century.
